“Working Together” to strengthen Hawaii’s Families! Hoomau Home Visiting is a program to help parents provide a safe, healthy, nurturing environment for their young children.
The Hoomau Home Visiting Program works to prevent the occurrence or re-occurrence of child abuse and neglect by strengthening families "at-risk." Home Visitors work with parents and resource caregivers of children birth to 3 years old in the Diamond Head, West Honolulu, Aiea, Pearl City and Windward areas of Oahu to provide parenting education, promote child health, development, and safety, offer emotional support, and link families to resources in their community.
Families are referred to the program by Child Protective Services (CPS), Voluntary Case Management (VCM), or Family Strengthening Services (FSS) programs. Home Visitors work closely with both the family and the CPS Social Worker, VCM Case Manager, or FSS Family Support Specialist to assist the family in meeting their goals.
Services are voluntary and provided free of charge.
The Hoomau Home Visiting Program "works together" with families by offering home visits that help parents/caregivers provide a safe, healthy, nurturing environment for their children. Mothers, fathers and other caregivers are encouraged to participate.
