Keiki Day

Exciting News! The Honolulu Star Advertiser, Garden Island Newspaper, West Hawaii Today and the Hawaii Tribune Herald, in cooperation with Parents And Children Together, will publish a special Keiki Day edition of the newspaper. Students from grades K through 12 are given the unique opportunity to express themselves through their art and writing and be published in their respective paper on Oahu, Kauai and Hawaii islands.

Students are encouraged to submit original stories, poems, essays or artwork for the Keiki Day Creativity Contest. Entries must relate to this year’s theme, Dare To Dream” and submitted by Friday, April 12, 2019 by 4:30pm.

Winners (26 on Oahu, 6 on Kauai, and 6 on Hawaii) will have their work published (including the school and teacher’s name) in the special Keiki Day edition for all of Hawaii to enjoy on Thursday, May 9, 2019. Each winner will also receive over $100.00 in cash and prizes.

As you know, newspapers can be valuable educational tools. Parents And Children Together is working to attract many sponsorships to make copies of the Keiki Day edition available to every student in Hawaii, at no cost to their schools — a great addition to the day’s curriculum!
