ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY CENTER

Economic Opportunity Center provides resources designed to strengthen an individual's ability to identify, secure and sustain employment. Qualified clients who either need assistance with employability or a career plan can access services that include a personal vocational assessment, basic economic literacy, budget planning, resume development, job placement and career development coaching.

With respect for Hawaii's multicultural population, the mission of the Economic Opportunity Center is to assist low to moderate income individuals and families reach their economic goals. Our Economic Opportunity Center provides this assistance throughout the various communities of Oahu.


VISION: Individuals and families have the skills to realize their economic dreams and full potential.


All services provided by the Economic Opportunity Center begin with individual intake and assessment to determine the goals and preferences of each person. Assessment and continuous casework help determine the type(s) of services needed. Referrals to other community agencies are provided as identified.

Economic ONE-ON-ONE Coaching
Economic one-on-one coaching is essential for the success of each client. The focus of one-on-one coaching is determined through a comprehensive assessment and individual service plan developed jointly by the client and an Employment Placement Specialist.

Employment Opportunity
Employment opportunity focuses on pre- and post-employment training and support services. These services include career path identification, employment preparation, workplace values, time and stress management, financial literacy, self-development and other activities that focus on individual and family employment objectives and goals outlined in the individual’s service plan. The program also offers JOB CLUB, which affords clients access to the Center’s computer lab and to a placement specialist who assists with employability coaching, navigating online resources such as job search platforms and application/resume submittals, applying for career certification programs and assisting with tuition assistance, as well as job interview preparation.

Job Placement
Employment placement specialists assist participants in finding rewarding, gainful and sustainable employment. By seeking out and developing employer partnerships, placement specialist are positioned to quickly navigate the current labor market, identify participant’s current and future economic goals, and present positive solutions for participants, Oahu employers, and the community at large.

Eligibility
Generally, low to moderate income individuals residing on Oahu. (Other criteria may apply for specific projects).
