HOOMAU HOME VISITING PROGRAM

Hoomau Home Visiting is a program to help parents provide a safe, healthy, nurturing environment for their young children. Hoomau Home Visiting Program "works together" with families by offering home visits that help parents/caregivers provide a safe, healthy, nurturing environment for their children. Mothers, fathers, and other caregivers on Oahu are encouraged to participate.

Hoomau Home Visiting Program works to prevent the occurrence or re-occurrence of child abuse and neglect by strengthening families "at-risk." Family support workers work with parents and resource caregivers of children birth to three years old in the Diamond Head, West Honolulu, Aiea, Pearl City and Windward areas of Oahu to provide parenting education, promote child health, development, and safety, offer emotional support, and link families to resources in their community.

Families are referred to the program by Child Welfare Services (CWS), Voluntary Case Management (VCM), or Family Strengthening Services (FSS) programs. Family support workers work closely with both the family and the CWS social worker, VCM case manager, or FSS family support specialist to assist families in meeting their goals.
